Bulbs are sprouting everywhere in the garden, Spring is on the way! I was thinking of gardeners when I was designing this apron – it’s easy to wear, adjusts to fit over clothing at different times of the year and has a range of pockets. This apron also works well for a range of craft makers, potters and artists – the bib features a row of hanging pockets carefully designed to remain upright and accessible even when the wearer is seated. An overlapped split skirt allows lots of movement whilst ensuring each leg is covered when sitting at the workbench/wheel or clambering about in the garden.

Petite sizes for No4:5 Potters Aprons
The ‘Wheat Beige’ colour denim pottery apron No4:5 now has a petite size option. I drafted a petite size pattern last summer for the mustard No4:5, by Christmas they were selling well, I’ve set about about adding them to all the colourways.

Eco bags
There are now 3 bags in my “Follow The Thread’ shops. All three are large capacity and made from 100% cotton, using fabrics left over from apron making or fabric samples given to me that would otherwise have been thrown away.

NEW pottery apron
I really love this denim fabric! It’s thick but soft with a nice drape, in a warm oatmeal colour with a pale milky colour on the reverse. A versatile and comfortable crossback, split leg skirt design, with roomy pockets, useful for a variety of art & craft activities, home & garden.
Eco apron one-of-a-kind
I can’t bear throwing fabric remnants away, consequently I have two big boxes of fabric bits, left over from making aprons. This apron is constructed using ochre denim remnants, which have subtle colour differences from the different dye lots. The result is one highly individual yet tough and functional work apron that will last for years to come.

Custom apron for a glass designer
Work apron commission from ‘Robyn Coetzee Glass Designs’ finished and delivered this week. A split skirt, crossback apron in dark denim, with a waterproof fabric bib. Robyn was keen to have her logo on the bib; this was neatly resolved by having Robyn’s logo printed on to waterproof fabric, that I stitched to the denim bib. I used ‘Contrado/Bags of Love‘, a UK company that prints any image you supply, on to a huge range of different types of fabric, (eg. jerseys, canvas, silk, velvet, cottons…) within a couple of days!
NEW limited edition apron
This deep forest green brushed twill fabric is wonderfully ‘strokeable’… but I only have enough for 4 aprons! It’s the new No23:1 design, with all the comfort of a crossback apron, combined with the snug fit of a tie apron, or, leave open for an easy-fit. The row of front bib pockets and large skirt pocket come in very handy in the studio or garden.
NEW ‘milk boy’ artists apron…
Gorgeous, thick organic cotton apron, milky cream denim with stripe denim details. Super comfortable crossback design, split leg skirt and 3 roomy pockets. Now in Folksy and Etsy shops. Something about it reminds me of the old days of dairies and milkman, my Mum’s first job, in 1960, was as a milk analyst at a dairy in West London!
Brookmill Park waistcoat project – update
Finished drafting the making instructions and paper patterns for the ‘Brookmill Park – volunteers waistcoat’; they are keen to get going with sewing their own waistcoats!
A NEW apron, yellow, blue & stripey!
Finally got the first No23 apron in the Folksy & Etsy shops, it’s been a long time in development. The adjustable crossback design combines the comfort of a crossback apron with the snug fit of a tie apron, or, you can leave the ties knotted for an easy fit!
This apron was developed to be able to use smaller pieces of fabric and combining different fabrics in one apron, with the idea of reducing waste, upcycling and recycling. I’m currently making samples of a split skirt version with cargo pockets, which I’ve already sold to clients making custom orders.
