There’s always something new to learn.

An Etsy client asked if I could make an adjustable neck strap with a slider buckle for a No14:3 – this is my experimentaI version. I’ve never used one of these buckles before and I thought the canvas might be too bulky and unwieldy but in fact it works quite well…

The client also wanted an angled split skirt. It looks great, love all the different shapes … but there is less leg coverage than my standard apron skirts.

BRAND NEW APRON DESIGN!

I’ve been working on this one for quite a while now, over a year in fact, trying to produce a work apron that is simple and easy to wear, has well thought out functional details, has a lower price point, and of course looks great too!

The pocket sizes I’ve chosen to fit a variety of tools, notebooks, phone and devices, and the little square one is also handy for a little snack! I particularly love the arrangement of colour combinations, the soft natural unbleached canvas with it’s tiny dark flecks, the big bright yellow pocket and stark black pockets and straps.

New colour for No14:3 Potters Apron

My newest apron design now comes in my most popular colour/fabric! Ochre canvas, teamed with beige herringbone ties and a teeny pop of red for the D-ring loop. It has a generous split leg skirt, for great coverage when seated at the wheel or workbench, and a ‘wonky pocket’ with tool compartments, angled for easy access when seated.

NEW! Denim No14:2 Pleated Split Leg Apron

I’m always trying to create a bit of variety in the range, so that clients find an apron that suits their craft practice, personality and preferences. This lovely 8oz denim drapes over your legs beautifully when seated at the wheel or work bench; it’s a really distinctive and attractive design, yet highly functional work apron.

Upcycled Patchwork Bag 003

I can’t bear to throw fabric away, even scraps, knowing all the processes that went into making it and the thought of adding more textile waste to landfill. Making something useful from odd shape scraps of fabric is a challenge. I often get very narrow strips of fabric leftover after cutting out apron – here I’ve been experimenting with joining those strips of fabric to make a good size bag. More work needed to incorporate an internal pocket and an interesting strap.

Brand new design – with wonky pocket No14:3

This new design is in response to requests for more tie apron designs (rather than crossbacks) from clients who wanted a snug fitting work apron. I was aiming at a classic work apron but with updated features for the modern maker.

The split front has a deep crossover to ensure good leg coverage when sitting at the potters wheel or a work bench, the skirt also has a large patch pocket on one side and on the other side a ‘wonky pocket’ angled to access more easily when seated. There is a further pocket on the bib and a tool loop in the waistband to hang a cleaning cloth etc. All the pockets are double stitched for strength. The contrasting colour soft woven neck & waist ties and the little red canvas D-ring loop give a distinctive touch.

New colour for No23:2 ultimate makers apron!

No23:2 in black canvas – my ultimate crafters apron, packed with useful features! Split leg skirt, cargo pockets, skirt pocket, crossback adjustable straps, tough cotton canvas…and comfy too. Split leg aprons are great for ‘sitting down’ type of making activities, opening to give more movement and comfort. With this in mind I did lots of work on the design of the bib/cargo pockets so that they remain upright and accessible when the wearer is seated.

Honing No23 design

I’ve been working on this apron design for some time. The main idea behind it was to create an apron that could be made with fabric offcuts – it needed to have a bib that could be just sewn on top of a square skirt, such as the denim patchwork Boro aprons I’ve made.

I had also hoped to make this a tie apron that converts to a crossback and spent a lot of time on getting the width and details right – but in the end I realised it just doesn’t give the breadth of sizing that is so important. So back to the drawing board, deciding instead to have long adjustable ties that pass through fabric loops and knot or tie at the back. Again went through a couple of loop variations before settling on the narrow loops that look neat and don’t make the waistband lumpy!

NEW Unisex ‘Kite’ Apron No22

These aprons are now in my Folksy and Etsy shops. Named for it’s distinctive kite -shape, I am so pleased with how this apron turned out, it perfectly fits me (5’6″) and my partner (6’4″), and looks great. An adjustible crossback apron, in beautiful quality cotton canvas with tough marine cord ties.
